Statistics

The Housing Department of the Velocity Interoperability Network publishes statistics on its housing stock, its lettings, the Housing Register, inspections against the Housing Standard, repairs and its homelessness service. This first release covers the transition period from 10 August to 5 September 2026, during which member organisations transferred their housing functions to the Department, and records the position at establishment on 6 September 2026.

The figures are drawn from the stock, waiting-list and repair records transferred by member organisations, from the Department's sample inspections and from the returns of the interim homelessness arrangements. Figures for the transition period are provisional and will be revised in later releases where late returns are received.

The position at establishment. The figures below record the Department at the point of establishment.

Housing stock. The Department's stock at establishment consists of the 4,120 homes transferred from member organisations, all of them occupied, and the 96 homes completed under the Affordable Housing Programme during the transition period, all of them vacant and available for letting from 21 September 2026.

The Housing Register. The 1,860 households carried over from the waiting lists of member organisations were distributed between the bands as shown below. Of those households, 1,412 are households of staff of member organisations and 448 are households of citizens of the Network.

Activity during the transition. Before the Department's establishment, lettings, repairs and the homelessness service continued under interim arrangements at the principal sites. The activity recorded under those arrangements is shown below.

The rise in transfers between the two halves of the period reflects the completion of the stock records of the larger member organisations. Lettings under the interim arrangements were made from the waiting lists of member organisations and are included so that the series is continuous with the Department's own reporting from the Housing Register.

Repairs. The repairs completed during the transition period are shown by priority against the response times now published on the Housing Standards page. The response times did not formally apply during the transition period; the figures are given as a baseline for later releases.

Homelessness. Forty-one applications were received under the interim arrangements. The outcomes are shown below, together with the average length of stay of the 38 households in emergency accommodation at establishment. The Department will publish statistics quarterly. The next release, covering the quarter ending 30 September 2026, will be published in October 2026 and announced in the Newsroom. It will report for the first time on lettings from the Housing Register, on the Department's performance against its repair response times and on the inspection programme.
