Housing Register Opens and Standard Tenancy Agreement Published

The Housing Department of the Velocity Interoperability Network today opened its Housing Register. Staff of member organisations and citizens of the Network aged 18 or over may apply to be placed on the register, and applications are assessed within ten working days. The 1,860 households already on the waiting lists of member organisations were placed on the register at establishment in the band that corresponds to their existing priority and keep their original application date.

Applications are placed in one of four bands according to housing need. Offers of homes are made in band order and, within each band, in date order. The first offers under the register will be made on 21 September 2026, when the 96 homes completed under the Affordable Housing Programme become available for letting.

The Department also published today the terms of its standard tenancy agreement, which applies to every home the Department lets. Deposits are limited to five weeks' rent and are held in the Department's deposit scheme; rent is reviewed once a year on 1 April, with two months' notice of any change; and the notice periods that apply to the tenant and to the Department are set out in the agreement. Private landlords letting homes within the Network must register each tenancy with the Department within 28 days of its start.
