The Housing Department of the Velocity Interoperability Network has been formally established. The Department is responsible for affordable housing, for the letting and management of homes within the Network, for the standard that every home let in the Network must meet, and for services for people without a home or at risk of losing one.

During the transition period from 10 August to 5 September 2026, member organisations transferred 4,120 homes of staff accommodation to the Department, together with their waiting lists and repair records. Occupants of those homes became tenants of the Department on 6 September 2026 on the terms of its standard tenancy agreement, at the rent they were already paying. The 1,860 households on the waiting lists of member organisations have been placed on the Department's Housing Register without the need to reapply.

With its establishment complete, the Department today launches its official website at housing.gov.vin. The site carries press releases, official statements, the Housing Standard, the terms of the standard tenancy agreement and guidance on every service the Department provides.

The Affordable Housing Programme, the opening of the Housing Register, the arrangements for tenancies and the Department's homelessness service are the subject of separate announcements published today. General enquiries may be sent to contact@housing.gov.vin.
